The Swingin' Country Dance Kings

swingin country dance kings characters

The Swingin’ Country Dance Kings are all-star instrumentalists who have played pivotal roles in the Alberta country-roots scene during that scene’s heyday between the late seventies through to the new millennium.

All have played on the road and/or recorded with Ian Tyson and members of this ensemble have contributed to music created by Diamond Joe White, Mark Koenig, Tim Hus, Gord Bamford, The Great Western Orchestra, the CCMA Awards Show House Band, Cindy Church and many other exceptional country and roots artists.

Calvin Vollrath is a super star fiddler on both sides of the Canadian/U.S. border and his deep discography includes an acclaimed duet date titled Airmail Special that he cut in Nashville with steel guitar great Buddy Spicher.

Guitarist Dave Hamilton and steel ace Jeff Bradshaw also cut their own gem of an album, Swingin’ Country Dance Toons.

This VIMF date marks a rare appearance from this collective of gifted and inspired instrumentalists.

Jeff Bradshaw: Pedal Steel Guitar
Dave Hamilton: Guitars
