A long time ago, MusicFest had a favourite band who frequented our Festival and other MusicFest events. Do you remember the 24th Street Wailers? Of course you do! Well front person, drummer & guitarist from the 24th Street Wailers, Lindsay Beaver is all grown up and for the past few years, has been making a huge splash in the Austin blues scene. As a young, white, Canadian woman, that is no small feat!

We are thrilled to welcome Lindsay and her excellent musician partner Brad Stivers (along with their killer band) back home; back to Vancouver Island MusicFest.

Lindsay Beaver & Brad Stivers have extracted the finest Texan ingredients their state has to offer, cooking up a saturated blend of Blues guitars, Soul vibes and Rock ‘N’ Roll attitude. Locked in both musical vibes and marriage, the Austin-based duo is destined to write, record, and perform until death do them part.

Both well-versed and experienced musicians in their own right, the duo’s combined 40 years of musical know-how has seen them come together to create a riveting mix of original productions and covers at their intense, larger-than-life live shows. With lyricism based around love, relationships, and personal experiences on the road, all of which Lindsay Beaver & Brad Stivers draw from personally, their music is anything but contrived.

Individually, both bring an impressive array of previous accomplishments to this project. Lindsay was nominated for ‘Best New Talent and ‘Best Traditional Blues Recording’ at the Blues Awards, won ‘Drummer of the Year’ in 2018 at the Maple Blues Awards, toured 15 countries in the last 7 years and has released music on Alligator Records. Additionally, she has opened for a number of all-stars, including Jimmie Vaughan, Lou Ann Barton, John Hiatt, and JD Mcpherson.

For Brad, he has received radio plays across the globe, collaborated with the likes of Malford Milligan and Sax Gordon, and has opened for Lurrie Bell and Tinsely Ellis with his own band project.

As Lindsay Beaver, they’ve received notable press mentions, and have been toted as “two of the hottest young singers and musicians coming out of Austin, Texas” by American Blues Scene.
