Funky Chester Rhythm Section

funky chester band collage with 2022 Vancouver Island Musicfest logo

The Funky Chester Rhythm section celebrates a time when distinct groups of studio musicians were responsible for inventing a certain sound that would be immediately recognizable. They created many, many hit records! There was the West Coast Wrecking Crew, the Motown Funk Brothers, The Laurel Canyon band called the Section, New Orleans players The Funky Meters and many others. The Funky Chester Rhythm section is made up of those types of musicians and this group in particular is the modern group who are falling in the footsteps of the Muscle Shoals bands. Each player has a list of credits as long as your arm and we are thrilled to welcome them back from Muscle Shoals and that area to celebrate another Vancouver Island MusicFest summer with us!
