Family South
Celebrating the Great Americana Song Book at VI MusicFest

Family south announcement for 2022 Vancouver Island Musicfest

“Last time we were allowed to have a Festival, we were so proud to bring you the show featuring an unprecedented Canadian gathering of many of the musical Icons from Muscle Shoals. This region is one of the hotbeds and ground zero for so much of what has become known as Americana music,” exclaims, MusicFest AD, Doug Cox.

The show was curated for us by wonderful musician, band leader and producer, Andreas Werner. The band came and fit so well into out Festival format and left the Festival having made many new life-long friends and fans.”

Cox adds, “This year, it only made sense to continue our work together, so Andreas and I came up with the idea of a band centered around the music of family, the South, and the catalogue of songs that has become know as the great Americana Songbook. I am so excited to put together yet another once-in-a-lifetime collaboration featuring these killer musicians, some famous and some not, who contribute to the backbone of this genre of music encompassing Blues, Rock, Funk, Folk and so many other styles. Just look at who is coming as part of Family South!”
