Vancouver Island MusicFest announced the evening line up for their 17th anniversary festival July 7-10 last week and ever since organizers have experienced an unprecedented demand for Day Passes! So in a first time ever move by festival organizers, limited Day Passes are being released for sale on Wednesday June 1st, only through the Sid Williams Theatre.

“This is really indicative of the caliber of this years line up and the excitement felt by folks about seeing some of the greatest musical legends of our time.” says festival Associate Producer Meg Cursons. “Unfortunately, some of our audience members are not able to attend the entire weekend due to work schedules or childcare but we don’t want this to stop them from experiencing this unbelievable line up. With a sold out 2011 event imminent, we wanted to make sure some Day Passes were available for these folks.”

“Only 250 for each day are being released at this time and Early Bird Weekend Passes are still the best deal if you can attend two or more days BUT if you can only come for one day this is totally the way to go!” says Cursons.

Thursday July 7th features a special concert event with 26 time Grammy Award Winner Alison Krauss with Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas. This is their ONLY west coast show this summer! Tickets for Alison Krauss are only $50 with the purchase of a weekend pass to VIMF or $65 for the Thursday Night Only. After June 30th this price goes up to $75.

Friday July 7th is shaping up to be a colourful night with Portland based carnival performance troupe March Fourth Marching Band; Americana Supergroup Red Horse; astounding Reggae/Blues talent Corey Harris and the 5X5 Band; world re-known magician Jeff McBride and hip hop ground breakers Arrested Development. Adult Passes for Friday are only $69!

The evening of Saturday July 8th features a legendary roster with Jon Anderson, the unmistakable voice of progressive rock icons Yes; guitar greats John Jorgenson and Albert Lee; modern American music master Randy Newman and a truly brilliant Saturday night closer with bluegrass powerhouse The Travelin’ McCourys coupled with the ‘sacred steel’ of the Lee Boys. Saturday Passes (which gives you all day and all night of music) are only $89!

Sunday Evening is shaping up to be one of those truly unforgettable MusicFest nights with the introspective and exquisite songs of Rodney Crowell; compelling and sultry jazz diva Holly Cole; a once in a life time collaboration with “The Night Train Music Club” and a performance by one of the defining voices of our generation – David Crosby! Tickets for Sunday (all day and night) are only $89.
