Roy Forbes

Born in Dawson Creek, B.C. and nicknamed Bim as a child, Roy Forbes has been a strong Canadian musical presence since the early 70s as a performer, songwriter, recording artist, record producer, and broadcaster.  One of Canada’s national treasures, this singer/songwriter/guitarist, is blessed with a unique voice, part Hank, part Billie Holiday, part Robert Plant and startlingly soulful.

Roy is a two-time Juno nominee and multi West Coast Music Award winner, with nine solo albums to his credit as well as two CDs with UHF (Ulrich Henderson and Forbes). His songs have been performed and recorded by a myriad of other artists and have been used as ‘source music’ for movies and television.  Roy has a semi-regular and popular show on CBC Radio One, Snap Crackle Pop as well as a weekly show on CKUA – Roy’s Record Room.

In June, 2007, Northern Lights College gave Roy an honourary arts degree, in recognition of his creative work over the past three and a half decades. As well, the City of Dawson Creek named a street in his honour – Roy Forbes Drive.
