Don Amero Trio
Growing up in the North End of Winnipeg, acoustic musician Don Amero has definitely faced his share of adversity. With poverty, gangs, drugs and violence as daily reminders of the harshness of the world, Don’s life was nevertheless tempered by love, support and the knowledge that a Greater Power was intimately involved in his life.
Shaped and molded by his coming of age, his music now carries both the depth of experiencing hardship and the luminosity of experiencing hope. All who have the pleasure of listening to his music will no doubt leave with his encouraging message of positivity lifting their spirits.
Don self-engineered, produced and released his debut album, ‘Change Your Life’, in 2006 which was nominated for a total of 7 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMAs). In fall 2007, Don quit his day job as a hardwood floor installer and began pursuing music as a full time career. In February of 2009, he released his second album, ‘Deepening’. ‘Deepening’ was well received garnering various nominations and winning both the award for ‘Aboriginal Songwriter of the year’ at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and ‘Male Artist of the year’ at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.
In late 2009, he recognized a great sound with two exceptional musicians and is thrilled to be touring Canada with Marie-Josee Dandeneau and Kim Oost.
Marie-Josee Dandeneau is a French Canadian multi-instrumental musician from St-Boniface, Manitoba. Specializing in double bass and electric fretless bass, MJ has performed at festivals across the world with various bands, jazz ensembles & solo artists. She has shared the stage with notable acts such as Xavier Rudd, Ben Harper and The Wyrd Sisters and currently spends her time touring with bands Oh My Darling and The Don Amero Trio.
Kim Oost is an up and coming singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She brings not only her talent as a pianist, but also her incredible ability to vocally harmonize with anyone, anywhere, anytime…and she plays a mean shaker. On Don’s past & upcoming albums she brings her skill to the studio and helps bring great music into being. During 2010, she is busy working on her debut album and touring Canada with Don.
