Debris Blanc
So, what do you do when one of the best drummers on the planet calls you up and says “Hey, I’ve got some friends coming up to Courtenay on the same weekend as MusicFest to hang out… is there anywhere we could play just for fun?” You say Yes!
Richie Hayward, for those who don’t know, drummer extraordinaire for Little Feat among many other musicians such as … well … just about anyone you could name with any notoriety who has been part of the Roots music scene for the past 40 years is now calling the Comox Valley home. Not only has this brought Little Feat to our Festival this year, but also, Debris Blanc.
Debris Blanc features frontman/accordionist Eddie Baytos, who has also worked with a varied and impressive roster of performers, most recently performing on Annie Lennox’s new CD. Eddie’s long and storied musical career he has performed both live and in the recording studio with such artists as Jerry Lee Lewis, George Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, John Fogerty, R.L. Burnside, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner, Percy Mayfield, Lee Dorsey, Johnny Adams, Ernie K-Doe, and Zig and Leo of The Meters. Eddie has even tap-danced on record with the famed Fayard Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers.
Joining Eddie and Richie will be Los Angeles Session ace guitarist Steve McCormick and Canadian session vocalist Shauna Drayson-Hayward.
