Dave Harris
Dave Harris is a versatile musician and singer songwriter who is probably best known for his one-man band act. For over thirty years Dave has been a fixture on the streets of Victoria, playing and singing his wide-ranging repertoire of country and blues. Dave plays guitars, harmonicas, violin, mandolin, fotdella (foot operated pedal bass), suitcase bass drum and various percussion, horns, whistles and bells. He plays these instruments, in various combinations, simultaneously, in the tradition of the great Jesse Lone Cat Fuller.
The veteran musician performs his original tunes as well as many of the lesser-known blues classics as a busker, sideman or bandleader. He is noted for his harmonica playing as well as his expertise on both acoustic and electric guitar. He is serious about the blues and has written many articles and CD reviews over the years as well as teaching at UVIC.
His one-man band, along with his humorous patter have resulted in Dave being the subject of a documentary film that has been aired many times on TV stations across the country. Since the documentary, Dave has continued his busking career, made some festival appearances, taught various workshops and is currently working on a book on one-man bands.
