Adrian Belew Power Trio

We have seen some of the absolute best string players at MusicFest, from the historic first-ever live collaboration between Bill Frisell to David Lindley, to Jerry Donahue and Amos Garrett meeting at the Church of Guitar. From acoustic masters like Leo Kottke and John Renbourn, Jerry Douglas, Earl Scruggs and Edgar Meyer to Gypsy jazz king, John Jorgenson. In this tradition, we are honoured to present in his first-ever Canadian Roots Music Festival appearance, the impeccable Adrian Belew and his power trio!

Adrian Belew is simply one of the most innovative electric guitarists of all time. His guitar sound is actually his own, instantly recognizable as only he can play it. He is one of the true creators of the palette of electric guitar sounds that define and continue to inspire two generations of guitar players.

Spending time in bands with Frank Zappa, David Bowie and Talking Heads, he’s also clocked serious studio time with other artists including Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson, Tom Tom Club, Tori Amos and Herbie Hancock. He’s fronted the various incarnations of perennial art rockers King Crimson since 1981, as well as putting together the Bears and several of his own solo projects.

Adrian Belew continues to be at the leading edge of electric guitarists today along with his amazing rhythm section, brother and sister phenomenon, Julie and Eric Slick. Adrian is the kind of musician who many of our other visiting Artists are very excited about seeing in concert. You can tell, by who’s standing watching in the wings, that this man is a true guitarists, guitarist!
