Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteering at Vancouver Island MusicFest is an incredible opportunity, an amazing good time, and a privilege. Our success is due in large part to the contributions made by volunteers. It is important therefore, that volunteers have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
- Contribute a minimum of 16 hours of service before, during or after the event.
- Be 19 years or older. If you are 16-18 you can volunteer with permission and acceptance of the terms and conditions set out below. Persons under 16 can volunteer if they are working with their parents/guardian. Acceptance of volunteers is the discretion of VIMF.
- Fulfill all responsibilities of crew membership including attending meetings and completing minimum time requirements and shift commitments. Attend all crew meetings – if you must miss a meeting, find out what was discussed and arrange to get copies of any information that was distributed.
- Make arrangements for the care of your children while you are on duty.
- Be a quality representative of VIMF and the Comox Valley. Be respectful, friendly, thoughtful, helpful and honest with the public, the performers and fellow volunteers. You will be a member of a great team and will be expected to be a team player. Volunteers are asked to represent VIMF to the public in a positive light and not do or say anything that would harm the festival.
- Not consume alcohol or contraband substances before or during a shift and not consume alcohol while wearing his or her volunteer ID. All alcohol must be consumed in designated areas (beer gardens or private campsites). Volunteers under the age of 19 will refrain from ANY use of alcohol at VIMF. Failure to do so will result in all volunteer privileges being forfeited.
- Inform yourself about the Festival, the site and our policies.
- Treat volunteers, performers, staff and the public with respect & courtesy. If problems arise, defer to the Crew Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator or Production Manager.
- Not use for your own advantage any property or monies belonging to VIMF.
- Refer questions from the media involving policy or sensitive issues to the Artistic Director or Associate Producer.
