Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering with Vancouver Island MusicFest. We welcome over 1000 volunteers to our team each year and try to place as many new volunteers as possible. If we can't place you this year, please contact us again!

Volunteer positions currently available for 2008 are environment and green team, parking, kitchen, electrical, first aid services (especially pre-and post festival) and security. Please indicate your preference in order on the volunteer form below!

Volunteer Responsibilities:

MusicFest has become an annual event much anticipated by the general public. Its success is due in large part of the contributions and efforts made by volunteers. It is important therefore, that volunteers have a clear understanding of their responsibilities as listed below.

  1. Contribute 16 hours of service before, during and after the event.
  2. Be 19 years or older. If you are 16-18 you can volunteer with parental or guardian permission and acceptance of the terms and conditions set out below. Persons under 16 can volunteer if they are working with their parents/guardian. Acceptance of volunteers is the discretion of MUSICFEST.
  3. Fulfill all responsibilities of crew membership including attending meetings and completing minimum time requirements and shift commitments. Attend all crew meetings - if you must miss a meeting, find out what was discussed and arrange to get copies of any information that was distributed.
  4. Make arrangements for the care of your children while you are on duty.
  5. Be a quality representative of MUSICFEST and the Comox Valley. Be respectful, friendly, thoughtful, helpful and honest with the public, the performers and fellow volunteers. You will be a member of a great team and will be expected to be a team player. Volunteers are required to represent MusicFest to the public in a positive light and not do or say anything that would intentionally harm or embarrass the festival.
  6. Not consume alcohol or contraband substances before or during a shift and not consume alcohol while wearing his or her volunteer ID. All alcohol must be consumed in designated areas (beer gardens or private campsites). Volunteers under the age of 19 will refrain from ANY use of alcohol at MUSICFEST. Failure to do so will result in all volunteer privileges being forfeited.
  7. Inform yourself about the Festival, the site and our policies.
  8. Every volunteer will agree to a waiver of liability, which is set out below.
  9. Treat volunteers, performers, staff and the public with respect & courtesy. If problems arise, defer to the Crew Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator or Production Manager.
  10. No volunteer shall use for his/her own advantage any property or monies belonging to MusicFest. All volunteers must be honest and trustworthy.

LIABILITY WAIVER

I wish to be a volunteer at MUSICFEST. I understand that this is a day and nighttime outdoor event with many people in attendance. I also understand that the ground and lighting are uneven; there are many people, temporary facilities and stationary and moving equipment on the grounds as well as many other potential hazards.

In further consideration of the benefits given to me as a volunteer at MUSICFEST, I agree that the Comox Valley Folk Society, its directors, employees, contractors, guests and fellow volunteers are not responsible, and are released from any claim that I might have, for any loss, damage, harm, injury, cost or expense that I might suffer or incur before, during or after the event, at the grounds of MUSICFEST or otherwise in the furtherance of my duties as a volunteer, except in the case of gross or wilful negligence on the part of the Society or such persons.

I accept the responsibility for my own safety and security and make this waiver on behalf of myself and my legal representatives, successors and assigns.

By clicking here you accept that you have read, understand and accept the waiver of liability as set out above.
